EYFS - Chestnuts

We are thrilled to welcome all our lovely children and families to our EYFS class page! In Chestnut Class, our little ones embark on a wonderful journey of discovery and growth, as they settle into the joys of school life.

Here in Chestnut Class, we support each child in developing the confidence and independence they need to thrive as learners. Our team, led by Miss Harby, is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where every child can flourish.

We hope you find the information we share with you both useful and informative! If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Remember, Miss Harby and the team are here for you before and after school, and remember to check out our learning on Seesaw.

Let’s make this school year a fantastic one together, filled with laughter and learning!

Home Reading books

Whilst your child will read regularly in school, you can make a big difference by listening to your child read and asking them questions about what they have read for just ten minutes each night. Your child will bring home a reading bookmark. Please update this each time they read at home. Once your child completes the coloured bookmark, they move on to the next rainbow-coloured bookmark. Once a rainbow of bookmarks is completed, they will earn their bronze, silver or gold reading certificate.

Phonics

In EYFS we follow Super Sonic Phonic Friends:

Homework is sent home termly and needs to be completed by the end of the term.

  • Phonics will be sent home on paper.
  • Reading for at least 10 minutes per night.
  • Termly homework sheets are linked to our learning.

Evidence for all homework needs to be added to Seesaw or a paper copy brought in during the term.
