School Dinners
Asfordby Hill has a kitchen on site.

Families who receive Family Income Supplement or Job Seekers Allowance may be eligible for free school meals. Please ask for further details at the office or if you think you may be entitled to free school meals, please ask at the office for a link.
All children in Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2 receive free school meals under the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal programme and for all others they are £2.95 a day.
Dinners can be paid for online using the Arbor app.
Children may also bring a packed lunch from home or go home for the lunch period. Asfordby Hill is a nut free school so please don’t send in any products containing nuts (e.g. chocolate hazelnut spreads, peanut butter, cereal bars containing nuts etc).
Important Changes to Free School Meals (FSM) – Academic Year 2026–2027
The Department for Education (DfE) has informed local authorities and schools that changes will be introduced to the way Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium funding are allocated.
The DfE is removing the transitional protections that have been in place since 1 April 2018. These protections previously allowed pupils who became eligible for FSM under the benefits-based criteria to continue receiving free meals, even if their household circumstances later changed.
From September 2026, eligibility will be reviewed annually. Households will need to meet the FSM eligibility criteria at the start of each academic year.
There will now be two categories of benefits-based FSM:
- Targeted FSM – for pupils in households receiving Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less.
- Expanded FSM – a new category for pupils whose households receive Universal Credit but do not meet the targeted FSM income threshold.
We want to ensure that every child receives the best possible support and education. Healthy school meals help children develop lifelong healthy habits and improve their readiness to learn.
Applying for FSM may also provide additional funding for the school, helping us offer:
- Extra learning support
- After-school activities
- Assistance with educational visits and trip costs
